Johann International was founded in 1996 by President/CEO Johann G. von Katzenelnbogen. He grew up in a region of Germany rich in a tradition of wood carvers and furniture makers, going back to the middle ages.

He has personally been interested in history, antiques and furniture making since his earliest recollection.

We believe that a very large part of the beauty of antique furniture comes from the subtle irregularities left by the use of hand tools.

Much as a collector of Persian carpets would be loathe to purchase a machine-made carpet for its lack of character, we believe our furniture, made in time honored traditions, also offers the customer with a truly beautifully and exquisitely unique piece of artwork to be treasured and cherished for generations to come.
